Professional Headshots with a Personal Touch: Georgia’s Film & Media Portrait Session

Professional Headshots with a Personal Touch: Georgia’s Film & Media Portrait Session

A Familiar Face, a New Direction

I recently had the joy of reconnecting with Georgia, a former guitar student of mine, now 23 and freshly graduated in Film and Media from Coventry University. As she steps into the world of production and storytelling, she reached out for a set of professional headshots — something creative yet clean, to support her applications in the film and media industry.

💬 “I found you on Facebook and loved your portrait work — could we do something like this?”

We exchanged a few Pinterest inspirations and locked in a one-hour session close to home.

Shooting on the Canal — With Style

The canal offered a perfect blend of natural backdrops and urban charm. It’s a place we both knew well, making it easy to feel relaxed and at ease.

I kept the lighting minimal and mobile — mainly a one-light setup to gently shape the light, with the occasional use of a purple-gelled second light to add a subtle pop of colour and flair. The idea was to keep things natural but visually interesting, reflecting Georgia’s artistic eye.

Shot Wide Open – 50mm & 85mm Portrait Magic

I worked primarily with my 50mm and 85mm lenses, shooting nearly wide open the whole time. These lenses deliver a beautiful depth of field, drawing attention to the eyes and letting the background melt away.

It’s a flattering, cinematic look — ideal for headshots aimed at the creative industries. We captured a mix of traditional looks, profile angles, and a few relaxed moments in between.

Creative Industry Headshots That Reflect You

Georgia left with a gallery of professional headshots that feel authentic, confident, and completely her. These aren’t just photos — they’re tools she can use in portfolios, LinkedIn, casting profiles, or creative CVs.

💬 “I absolutely love the shots — they feel so natural and professional. Just what I  needed!”
